What is Irish dancing?

Irish Dancing is not only a centuries old tradition, it’s also a sport which requires dancers to push themselves physically and mentally while still enjoying the dance, music and relationships that transpire. In Irish step dancing, the upper body is held very straight with the arms close to the sides. The emphasis is very much on footwork – the speed of the quick changes of position, the height of the jumps, the precision of movements and the uniformity with other dancers.
